City of Davenport Offers Youth Scholarships for Summer Programs

The City of Davenport is proud to announce the 2021 Summer Activity Scholarship Program for Davenport youth in grades K-12. The program, funded through the CARES Act to address COVID-19 related needs in Davenport, provides scholarships for Davenport residents to attend eligible summer programs that will help them regain educational, social, emotional, and developmental opportunities lost throughout the COVID pandemic.

“Last year, our children were unable to participate in many summer programs because of COVID-19,” said Parks and Recreation Director Chad Dyson. “This year, we know that financial hardship may be a barrier for families and children to participate in summer programs. The City of Davenport is excited to be able provide youth scholarships for summer programming because we believe every child should have a chance to participate in fun, educational activities throughout the summer.”

Applicants must be a Davenport resident and may apply for scholarships to multiple programs. Funding is available for up to $200 per week for 8 weeks applicable toward eligible programming through partner agencies. Residents may apply beginning May 19 for programs that run from June 1 – August 31.

Families can apply for a scholarship for any programming provided by a government or 501c3 partner. A current list of participating program providers can be found on the City’s website. Examples of partner agencies that are eligible include: Davenport Parks and Recreation, YMCA, Davenport Junior Theatre, Figge Art Museum, Putnam Museum, Nahant Marsh. Partner agencies not listed on the website may also be eligible, please contact City of Davenport Parks & Recreation for more information.
