Better Roads Davenport

Change is happening. Bear with us!

Street and sewer improvements can lead to inevitable slowdowns and traffic reroutes. We ask that you keep your eye on the prize: a city with enhanced livability that can support existing business infrastructure as well as attract new companies. It’s a short-term hassle with long-term payoffs.

As always, safety is our number one priority. Staying calm and following construction zone signage will help us achieve that.

As we work to modernize the sewer and street infrastructure to support growth and a vibrant future for our community, remember: there are better roads ahead, Davenport!

Current Traffic Updates

This Just In

  • Heads up for all who use I-80 and Business U.S. 61, weather permitting, beginning at 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 17, the Iowa DOT will close the ramp at Business U.S. 61 exit 123A (southbound 61 to eastbound I-80) and at I-80 exit 295A (eastbound I-80 to 61/southbound Brady) for traffic barrier rail improvements. Follow the signed detour using adjacent interchange ramps; take exit 295B for Brady St and exit 123B for eastbound I-80. The ramps are expected to reopen in mid-September. Follow IDOT construction news at 511ia.org.

  • Beginning the week of August 18, the following roads will be closed for resurfacing. Work is estimated to be complete by August 31.
    • Perry, 7th to 9th Street
    • 12th Street, Brady to Perry
    • Iowa, 12th to 13th Street
    • Kirkwood, Grand to Arlington
  • Watch for lane reductions and right-turn only travel east of the Kimberly Rd and Division St intersection between the hours of 7 p.m. and 7 a.m., beginning the evening of Wednesday, August 20. The nighttime travel restrictions are for road patching by the Iowa DOT and expected to last through the early morning of Friday, August 22.
  • Primarily involving excavation and underground work, this summer’s rain events have caused schedule delays on the Duck Creek Sewer Interceptor project adjacent to and along the Duck Creek Recreational Trail. Weather permitting, the section of the trail between Hickory Grove Road and Fairmount is expected to reopen in the first week of September. The section west of Fairmount is estimated to reopen by the first week of October. While construction and weather can be inconvenient, we encourage our trail users to hang in there. Once complete, this 5-mile, $16.25 M, ARPA-funded project will have a lasting impact on the future of our community.
  • Iowa American has various water main, hydrant work, and temporary winter patch replacements happening across the City including Spring and 16th St, E 13th and Tremont, E 14th and Carey, 14th and Grand, and Main and 8th St.

The Iowa DOT estimates work will be complete in November.
