Davenport, named after Colonel George Davenport, was originally settled in 1808 and was officially incorporated in 1836.  Davenport is the third largest city in the State of Iowa and the largest municipality in the Quad-City Metropolitan Area, which includes four counties located in two states.  The City of Davenport has a Mayor/Council form of government with a professional City Administrator.  The City is divided into eight wards and covers 66 square miles with a population of approximately 100,000.
