NEW MURAL CELEBRATES THE GNP MISSION
(July 11, 2025) The City of Davenport, the Davenport Police Department, and Quad City Metro Arts celebrated the completion of a new mural honoring the Good Neighbor Project.
The mural is on the train bridge wall next to the Davenport Police Department building on Harrison Street. Created in the spirit of the Good Neighbor Project mission, the mural represents connected neighborhoods, meaningful relationships, and Davenport pride. Now in its fifth year, there are 154 GNP partners citywide.
“You can think of GNP as a rebranding of the traditional Neighborhood Watch, only with more heart,” said Allie McWilliams, Community Engagement Coordinator. “This mural is more than just a work of art. It will be an inclusive destination for all to admire, take a picture, and maybe even strike up a conversation with a new neighbor.”
McWilliams and Davenport Police Sgt. Andrew Harris kicked off the mural project after visiting Madison, Wisconsin, and seeing a mural there that inspired them to bring the idea to Davenport. They brought in Quad City Metro Arts, an artist apprenticeship program, to design and paint the mural over five weeks.
“The student artists are driven, hard-working, and kind,” said Sgt. Harris. “The mural is a beautiful reflection of their vision and their voice.”
The City of Davenport would like to thank the Downtown Davenport Partnership, Davenport Noon Optimists Club, Quad City Bank & Trust, and Quad City Arts for the financial support that made this project possible.

THE GOOD NEIGHBOR PROJECT CELEBRATES FIVE YEARS
(December 18, 2024) The Good Neighbor Project is celebrating five years in Davenport on January 15! 2024 saw the total number of registered GNP partners reach 139, consisting of traditional neighborhoods, nonprofits, churches, and more. City staff and Davenport Police enjoyed attending meetings, block parties, and cleanups throughout the year while watching GNP leaders bring their neighborhoods closer together through continued efforts to creating safe, connected, fun, and motivated groups.
As we celebrate this milestone, it is important to reflect on where we began, and how far we’ve come. This program has grown tremendously over the last five years and is successful for many reasons – continuous engagement efforts made by dedicated community members; support from the Mayor, elected officials, and City staff; friends and families who attend GNP events; and more. It’s fulfilling to watch the partnerships and relationships continue to grow in Davenport.
GNP TEAM VISITS MADISON, WISCONSIN
(November 21, 2024) In celebration of The Good Neighbor Project’s five-year anniversary, Sergeant Andrew Harris, Community Impact Team Supervisor for the Davenport Police Department, and Allie McWilliams, Community Engagement Coordinator for the City of Davenport, visited Madison, WI to spend time with the group of individuals who started this whole initiative. Their visit not only re-energizes the spirit of community connection that The Good Neighbor Project embodies, but also serves as a powerful reminder of the positive impact it has had on Davenport’s neighborhoods. It’s a time to reflect on our collective achievements and reignite our passion for fostering an engaged and inclusive community!
