The City Clerk's Office is the filing office for Davenport Mayor and City Council candidates for the 2025 Regular City/School Election on November 4, 2025. Candidate filing begins Monday, August 11, 2025 and closes at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025.
If needed, the City Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Tips and reminders:
- Review the Candidate's Guide for cities with primary election provisions from the Iowa Secretary of State.
- Turn packets in early to allow time to address any concerns.
- Before collecting signatures, complete the top portion of the nomination petition and make copies so all petition page candidate headings are identical. (Example)
- Obtain more signatures than required. The address line must include an apartment or unit number if applicable.
- Do not sign the affidavit of candidacy until you are in the presence of a notary with a valid, government-issued photo ID (state-issued driver license, state-issued identification card, U.S. passport, or U.S. military ID). (Example)
