Better Roads Davenport

Change is happening. Bear with us!

Street and sewer improvements can lead to inevitable slowdowns and traffic reroutes. We ask that you keep your eye on the prize: a city with enhanced livability that can support existing business infrastructure as well as attract new companies. It’s a short-term hassle with long-term payoffs.

As always, safety is our number one priority. Staying calm and following construction zone signage will help us achieve that.

As we work to modernize the sewer and street infrastructure to support growth and a vibrant future for our community, remember: there are better roads ahead, Davenport!

This Just In

  • Exciting news for all Duck Creek Recreational Trail enthusiasts! The trail is back open between Hickory Grove Road and Fairmount Street! While construction on the Duck Creek Sewer Interceptor project will continue west of Fairmount next to the trail and along Duck Creek, we’re happy to share that no additional trail closures are expected during this final phase. The project is set to wrap up in the spring/summer of 2026.
  • The Iowa DOT will be performing full-depth patching on two sections of River Drive starting September 8. The work will take place on northbound River Dr between Stark and Fairmount and on southbound River Dr between Concord and Stark. The project is expected to be completed by September 12. One lane of travel will be maintained.
  • Attention Skybridge users and visitors: Davenport's iconic Skybridge will be closed from Monday, September 8, to Friday, September 12, for a lighting system replacement. The upgrade is necessary to replace the bridge's 20-year-old technology and ensure this colorful landmark remains a popular destination for years to come.
  • Iowa American has various water main, hydrant work, and temporary winter patch replacements happening across the City including Wisconsin and Duck Creek Bridge, 6th and Wilkes, and 12th and Fillmore.

One lane of travel will be maintained for the duration of construction. Work is estimated to be complete by November 15, pending weather and subsurface conditions.
  • Reconstruction of the alley behind Kirkwood Blvd, between Arlington and Bridge is set to begin September 8. Reconstruction is the result of a partnership between property owners and the City through Davenport’s Alley Repair/Rehabilitation Cost Share Program.
